Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg

Title: Revenge of the Girl With the Great Personality

Author: Elizabeth Eulberg

Published: March 1st, 2013

Genres: YA, Contemporary

Rating: 3.6/5

Summary:

Lexi has always been considered plain compared to her seven-year-old pageant queen sister. It ‘s been this way since the divorce when her mother stopped putting her energy into mothering and began putting all of her energy into pageants. Sure, Lexi’s got problems but she has friends, and she’s funny and I guess you could say she’s popular. But, she’s never been one of those girls the type who make boys fall head over heels for them. Lexi’s tired of being passed over from guys and having her mother care more about pageants than her. She’s the “girl with the great personality” and she’s done being in the background.

Review:

Okay. so when I first read the summary of this book I was just like #relateable. Okay I’m sorry for the use of the hashtag but i really thought this book was going to be a cute funny read but sadly it really didn’t live up to its title. The character Lexi is just so one-sided and I really hate how insecure and “weak” the author made her. I know that every girl has insecurities but I hate it when authors use a girl’s insecurities to propel the whole plot line. But I thought Lexi’s best friend was pretty truthful about Lexi’s apparent insecurities and brought her back down to earth.

“I hate that you let other people’s opinion influence you, especially if their delusional.”

And Lexi’s sister was absolutely fabulous I mean she was a total brat but she was sassy, dramatic and she completely reminded me of toddlers and tiaras.

I also didn’t like ow the author portrayed her crush on a guy I just wish she talked more about her life and family instead of overly romanticizing a high school crush.

“There you are!” Logan says, and I try to keep my heart from floating out of my body when he smiles at me.”

So.. this book wasn’t my favorite but I liked how the character evolved and there were some things that I found #relateable. Also, this sassy line toward the end made me just a little bit proud of the character.

“So I can take off the makeup, but I’m still a good person. But there’s no such thing as bitch remover.”

Also this was pretty cute;

“I, Lexi Anderson, am proud to say that I do, indeed, have a great personality.
And it’s only a matter of time before the Beautiful People will be wishing they had great personalities, too.
Good luck with that, oh Beautiful Ones.
Because we Great Girls are the rarest breed.”

Have a great weekend guys!

-p.s shutout to Bethany for getting me into blogging again-

Here’s a song I felt fit the book;

Melanie Martinez– Mrs. Potato Head

“Kids forever, kids forever
Baby soft skin turns into leather
Don’t be dramatic it’s only some plastic
No one will love you if you’re unattractive
Oh Mrs. Potato Head tell me, is it true that pain is beauty?
Does a new face come with a warranty?
Will a pretty face make it better?
Oh Mr. Potato Head tell me
How did you afford her surgery?
Do you swear you’ll stay forever
Even if her face don’t stay together.”

XOXO,

Madison ❤

P.S here’s a couple more cute gifs I found for Toddler and Tiaras

Okay this is probably how you guys are feeling right now;
